Peacefully on Thursday, March 23rd at the age of 89, in hospital with his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley, by his side. He was the loving father of James and Barry and cherished grandfather to Colleen, Alexandra, Jacob and Sam. He was predeceased by his son, Danny.
Fred retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer who had served for 20 years aboard ship in Halifax, N.S., followed by service with CN Hotels and Public Works Canada. He will be missed by family, neighbors and friends as well as the many associations with which he was involved.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Ottawa General Hospital (8th Floor) and Bruyère Hospital (2nd and 3rd Floors) during his long struggle, especially those who supported his fight with Parkinson’s Disease.
A small family funeral service was held at Kelly Funeral Home, Walkley Chapel (613-731-1255). Inurnment will be in Halifax at a later date.
