It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a one-of-a- kind wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always put family first. Lorraine is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Guy, daughter Lise Highley (Mike) and son Michel. She will be sorely missed by grandsons Ryan (Lindsay), Adam (Ashlee) and Jordan (Caitlin) and cherished great grandchildren Jaxon, Windsor and Peyton. She was predeceased by her parents Edouard and Hélène Beauchamp, sister Rita, brother Gerald and will be lovingly remembered by sister Patricia Chevrier (Marc) and sister-in-law Élise Beauregard. Mom was born in Hull, Quebec, 77 years ago, to a very French mother and very English father who somehow built an exceptional union without an interpreter. Lorraine married her childhood sweetheart, Guy, at 19, and literally lived happily ever after, cultivating a tremendous marriage and stable home for her children. Mom worked hard and with distinction for Bell Canada, the Public Service Commission of Canada and Federal Court of Canada for over 20 years, but she’ll be best remembered for her unwavering support and dedication to family and love for the simple things like good conversation, laughter, a clean house and a home cooked meal. She was a tall, 4’11”, had a great smile and embodied every trait you would desire in a wife, mother and friend: loyal, kind, friendly and selfless. Lorraine endured many health challenges over the years but was more concerned about the welfare of others - even in her final days. The family wishes to extend thanks to the staffs of Montford Hospital and Laurier Manor for their attentive care and compassion. Family and friends are invited to visit Kelly Funeral Home, Walkley Chapel (1255 Walkley Road, Ottawa, 613.366.1851) on Sunday March 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass in Memory will be held at Resurrection of Our Lord Church, 1940 Saunderson Drive, Ottawa, on Friday March 10, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Mom always loved flowers, but if you would prefer to make a donation, memorial contributions can be made to Serenity Renewal for Families.
